The Karma of India Nadeau

Lady In The Dark

August 6, 2011

I often get creative late at night or the wee morning hours.  Most think my daily schedule is really weird, but for me it works.  For some reason, my energy just flows better at night.  I never was a morning person; I actually envy those who can pull themselves out of bed at dawn rearing to go be productive.  Sometimes, I am just going to bed at sunrise.  Growing up, I think I put my mom through hell with my crabby, anti-morning, adolescent attitude.  Haha.

Anyway, most of the dabbling I do in photoshop or with SL photography is done after ten p.m. or later.  Last night I also went through  some notecards of new releases and such since I haven’t logged in much lately.  One store I decided to go to was Exile.  There were a number of new demos I had not tried and they were awesome as usual.  The style I purchased was called “Valerie”–a sleek and low side ponytail with a little bit of bouffant action going on.  My final photo is a bit dark to see the full effect of the style, but you get the idea.  Admittedly, I don’t have a lot of hair from Exile.  I am not sure why I didn’t frequent this store more in the past, but I am keeping my eyes on the brand now!

Another new release to take note of is the recent line of fingernails by Mandala.  This set is a must for dressing up your digits with a fresh manicure!  There are a few sets to choose from of varying lengths, as well as a unisex set.  Each fingernail can be changed individually, or you can change all of the fingernails at once.  You can also choose one of five different nail shapes with the HUD.  Plus, there is a huge selection of colors to pick from.  See the HUD below.

Free As A Peacock

July 20, 2011

I was sent a breathtakingly lovely outfit some time ago from Austina Magic, the talented designer behind Arya Boutique.  I would like to begin my blog post by offering my sincerest apologies for not blogging it sooner!  I am grateful for the opportunity given for me to show off this flamboyant display of artistic fashion, and I hope I am able to do it justice.

The peacock is a majestic bird, notably marked by its brilliant feather plumes of color.  The Peacock Girl outfit is a very thoughtful, and well designed interpretation of the characteristics of the vibrant animal.  The texture, colors, and detail really pop, and hues of greens, blues, reds, and pinks abound.  Austina Magic worked extremely hard on this ensemble–and it shows!

I can totally see this design being worn in a pageant.  It is a remarkable wardrobe piece.  The ensemble comes complete with flower earrings, flower and feather attachments for hip and shoulder, the plume attachment on the back, as well as the eye-catching skirt and train.  The halter top front features more color kaleidoscopes of a peacock in its colors and design.  Its revealing cut around the bustline adds definite exotic sex appeal and elegance.

My look was brought together with hair from Plume; the flowers tied the look together beautifully!  I also added fingernails by Je Suis.

I really love the ideas behind this ensemble.  Also, I paid a visit to the Arya Boutique and for anyone who adores East Indian clothing, Austina has designed many traditionally styled Indian outfits and Indo-Western pieces.  If you are a lover of salwars and lenghas, be sure to drop by!

Aiko! Aiko!

May 10, 2011

Let me begin this post by announcing that I think I may have just found my next skin!  Trust me, I do not flip cartwheels over skins often.  Don’t get me wrong, I like a lot of skin creators, but once I find a skin that compliments my shape to my liking…I am stuck on it for on average, nearly a year.  In my three years in Second Life, I have only worn three skins regularly.  I am also a shopper that will think for a month about whether or not I will buy a certain skin fatpack.

Yes, I think way too much about making decisions sometimes.

Maybe I am just a stickler for consistency in my basic appearance.  My partner has recently nudged me to open my pixels to a new look.  He basically said it’s SL, not RL and we can look however we want to and achieve our own personal idea of perfection.  That isn’t an exact quote from him, just the general idea of what he was getting at.

It’s true–SL is where we can seek to piece together our own super chic, fab figured, pixelated representation of ourselves.  There are no boundaries really.  Maybe I should think about doing my yearly makeover ritual soon.

So, I’d like to present the latest skin that has turned my head.  It is an exotic looking skin from Belleza, and her name is Aiko.  This particular skin is a recent group gift to Belleza members.

Words can almost not express how pretty I think this skin is.  The makeup is perfect in the color blending.  Ahhhh…BEAUTIFUL!!!  I need to try the demos as soon as possible!

There are four skintones available, and 16 makeups per tone as stated in the Belleza group notice from today.

Also, I’d like to highlight this wonderful hat I am becoming obsessed with taking pics of, and the sculpted, color change eyelashes from Lelutka.

Pose Fair: Almost Over!

April 15, 2011

I have only been meaning to post  about the Pose Fair since it began and I have been there more than a few times to look around.  I had even been added to the bloggers list which I had forgotten I’d applied for.  Anyway, it was nice to browse before he fair officially opened, and I’d like to thank  all the pose creators involved for their efforts.  Without great pose makers, blogging and photography wouldn’t be nearly as enjoyable!

I just wanted to highlight a set I thought was super cute, as well as a pose I used from another maker just because I love how each pose by this creator is always so expressive and shows some drama in the body positioning.

Baffle! has put together a nice little artist’s set complete with five poses, four paint brush attachments, clothing and tattoo layers with paint splatters, and an easel with paint splatter textures.  I was so focused here on trying to be Picasso, I got paint all over my new top from Zaara!  Oh well, the beauty about virtuality is you can clean up your messes with a click of the mouse.

See…all clean!  But then I dropped a brush on the floor and had to pick it up.  I did it in a rather dramatic fashion with this pose by Di’s Opera.

While the pose fair is at its end, you will find this set from Baffle! and the pose from Di’s Opera at their stores when the fair is over.

Frou Frou in the Alley

March 29, 2011

Hello SL Fashion Public!  Unfortunately I have let my blog get a bit…silent–you know, the whole busy with other things line.  I’ll spare the explanations and get right to the fashion related commentary.

This ensemble contains a little bit of old and sparkly, and some new and lovely.  Je Suis had an amazingly awesome sale recently, and I honestly could not hold myself back from buying nearly everything I was still yearning after.  The African jewelry set is an edgy conglomeration of beads and metal with great texturing and detail.  Quality is what you will find at Je Suis,  and it is found in abundance.  I am also wearing fingernails from Je Suis, which I generally never do (sometimes I’m plain lazy with accessorizing), but these black, perfectly shaped nails with optional ring and color options were a perfect addition.

The other new item is this FrouFrou skirt in Onyx by The Secret Store that was an item being sold at the Pacific Crisis Fundraiser to benefit Japan.  I haven’t been to many of the fundraising events lately since I have not been in SL as much as before, but having helped with other SL fundraising events, I want to stress how really helpful these events can truly be.  Little things do add up, and the fact that we can spread awareness and raise donations in a virtual world that will aid real organizations is a mind blowing thing.

Just a little promo…Another Fundraiser, is an additional event where all proceeds are donated to The Red Cross.  All skins and makeups there are only 50L.  See the flickr group here.

So…back to the outfit…

A nice finish to the outfit were these booties by Gos I had picked up at a Disco Deals event awhile back.  They added a little more shiny funk while complimenting this old top that I have had forever.  You might say I love this shirt for its glitter factor!
