The Karma of India Nadeau

Snow Queen

December 9, 2016

Snow Queen

Well, the cold snap has finally happened where I live, and it has been a dreaded time indeed. I’ve always loved the heat of Summer. Every year it gets more and more difficult to bear these subzero temps.

So, then why did I decide to make a wintery post? I only did it because I saw this gorgeous dress by Junbug at this round of Uber and immediately envisioned the dress as a majestic, snow queen, ensemble.

This is the first time I have bought anything by Junbug, but I’ve admired the brand for awhile. If you love beautiful dresses, definitely check Junbug out!

Get A Little Exotic

November 23, 2016

A little exotic in Zaara!

One summer during my early college days, I was introduced to the world of Bollywood. I have always thought the culture of Southeast Asia was beautiful and enchanting in many ways, and through college I had become friends with a number of other students from that region of the world. They taught me more about their traditions, music, and food, thus feeding my admiration for that part of the world.

Needless to say, Bollywood films were uncharted territory for me (being a rural gal from the Midwest of the US and all), but when Turner Classic Movies ran a weekly movie night for a month that summer, I kind of got hooked. I was excited beyond belief! I’m ashamed to admit, my only taste of an Indian based film at that point was Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love with Indira Varma who now plays Ellaria Sand on Game of Thrones. An indie film called Monsoon Wedding, was also a film I had seen (much better than the previous movie I might add).

If you don’t know what Bollywood is, it’s the movie industry in India. The movies are typically a little longer than most, and feature singing and dancing (and good looking men)!

Anyway, the first real Bollywood movie I ever saw was called Rangeela. The film itself wasn’t the most memorable, but the name was–I believe it means ‘full of color’. Then I remember seeing Diwali Dulhania Le Jayenge with Shah Rukh Khan. I really enjoyed that one! But, I think the one I liked best out of those I first saw was Dil Chahta Hai. There were three good looking men instead of one!

Ok, that wasn’t the real reason. I loved the music, and the story was pretty good.

I haven’t watched many Bollywood movies in the last five years or so, mainly because I don’t understand more than a few words of Hindi, and I have to be in the right mood to read subtitles for three hours. Watching them though, always reminds me of my friends and the passion that I have for learning about life in other countries.

This outfit designed by Zaara, currently at Collabor88 reminded me of a song and dance number from the movie Asoka, Aa Tayar Hoja. I’m not sure why, but when I put it on the song jumped into my head!

So, I dedicate this post to fellow Bollywood fans!

Boogie Woogie Bugle

November 10, 2016

India Nadeau in Fishy Strawberry

After the events this week in our country, I need a bit of distraction from my brain and emotions. I decided blogging this outfit and listening to 80’s music would be a good way to accomplish this–it’s true. It is definitely helping my mental faculties relax since I suppose you can consider SL quite an escape from reality!

Shopping is also good therapy…though I bought everything in this photo before Tuesday.

I don’t normally go for clothing with a military feel, but this outfit from Uber caught my eye. Fishy Strawberry did a wonderful job creating all three pieces. I think this might have been my first time buying a hat in Second Life in the 8.5 years I have been there. The great part about this one is that it’s color change!

It was fun going pose shopping for this outfit as well. The funny thing was, I was wishing that I knew of a place that had poses with a bugle. Coincidentally, I went to the 50% off pose sale at {Nantra} and I found one! It couldn’t have been more perfect for what I wanted to do.

A Class Act

November 4, 2016

A Class ActI have been loving shopping in Second Life a little too much lately! But how can a gal help it when there are such talented designers out there who make such exquisite things?

I don’t usually shop the N21 event, but there were a couple of dresses that caught my attention. One of these was from The Secret Store. I often love anything that Maylee Oh creates because the clothing usually seems to have a bit of a retro flair.

The Ribbon Heels I am wearing by Reign, are from a past Luxe Box. The brand was actually introduced to me through Luxe Box, a monthly subscription box, and I have loved every wonderful pair of shoes and boots I have received. Definitely another fantastic creator!

The part of this look I struggled with was the jewelry. I think this is what my inventory is most lacking in and it drives me crazy! I have never been one to buy a lot of jewelry, not even in RL. When I look for items, I look for versatile pieces that might go with a lot of clothing items and styles. The Aria earrings and necklace now at FaMeshed, were perfect. The set also has a choker and longer necklace which features color change metals and gemstones (another thing I look for in SL jewelry).

Who is your favorite SL jewelry designer?

It’s MeMe Time!

March 20, 2013

I have honestly never done a meme before.  I didn’t even know what meme meant until recently!  Maybe I am just behind on the times with internet lingo, but I digress.  I thought this seemed like a fun thing to post.  It was a post theme started recently by Strawberry Singh on her blog.  If you want to do the MeMe too, simply copy and paste the following questions and answer them with responses pertaining to your own Second Life!

I will add better style credits later…

      1. What is the rez date for your current SL Avatar that you use most often? India Nadeau, March 26th, 2008
      2. Where was the first place you made friends as a newb and got to know people in Second Life? The first place I remember meeting and befriending people was a club called “Millionaires.”  That club was where I obtained my very first SL job.  Most of us were part of the regular crowd there, and it was really a laid back and fun atmosphere.  I sometimes really miss those days and those people.  Those were the days of exciting exploration of the unknown in SL, and having a laugh.  I hope everyone I had known there are doing wonderful, wherever they all may be!
      3. Where do you spend most of your SL time now? My house that I have with my partner.
      4. Who is your closest friend in Second Life? (only pick one) My partner, Zaap Nirvana.
      5. What is the most favorite thing in your inventory? (only pick one) Umm, it varies weekly.  Haha.  Right now it is my Amberly skin from Glam Affair.
      6. The last thing you purchased in Second Life? Wedge sneakers from Gizza.
      7. What color clothing does your avatar wear most often? I think I mix it up pretty well…
      8. Do you prefer to walk, run or fly? I normally walk unless I am at some kind of large fair or something.
      9. What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done in SL? Hmmm, it involves some prims.  🙂
      10. Who would you like to play YOU, in the movie of your SLife? An actress with some spunk, a sharp wit (but not too sharp), a sarcastic sense of humor, and a good heart.
