Boho Equestrian From Mon Tissu In Kirsten’s Viewer!

December 16, 2010

I have fought with shadows in Kirsten’s Viewer for awhile now, not only with getting them to appear and their quality, but also with getting the environment to not have an obnoxious glow or lack the desired shadow effect. Also, because I am an avid Phoenix user, the interface of KV bugged me a bit and when I logged into it, my clothing was different than what I had been wearing in Phoenix.

With the latest major release of Kirsten’s Viewer (S20), awesome tutorials written by Strawberry Singh, and more experimenting, today I finally found satisfaction!

TIP: Turn full bright off on your studio backgrounds.  I realized that is why my shadows weren’t showing up on the ground or the wall.  I feel much less frustrated with KV now.  Whew!

I’d like to see more shadow contrast of the ground and wall shadow, and I’m not sure how to do that, but I think that is my last hurdle with this.

Now on to the fashion segment…

I’m sure you have seen many posts regarding the store Mon Tissu.  Trust me, it is so worthy of the blogger love it is getting!  I could write an entire page on the boots alone.  The texture of the leather footwear is out of this world–I could almost smell the new leather scent.  As a kid, I rode horses and every couple of years would get a new pair of leather boots (the cowboy boot variety).  The smell, feel, and visible texture of the leather is still lodged in my mind, and I couldn’t help but love these hot steppers for bringing back the memories.  I especially thought the texture detail on the heels was a remarkably clever touch.

I also love the free-spirited Boho look of the So Boho Blouse.  This top is exceptionally well done, appearing to have the realistic look and flow that was likely intended.  Beautiful work Mon Tissu!

This is Mrs. Jones’ Jacket

December 6, 2010

My sense of style can be all over the board at times, as I go through phases in my tastes.  In RL I have always been drawn to prints and colors, although I love the color black because of its versatility.  My preferences some days contradict each other depending on my mood or the day.  However, we cannot deny that is what fashion is–expressing moods and helping us to become a chameleon in response to whatever motivates us.

Another style that often causes me to stop and say, “Oh, lookie there!” and drool profusely (or almost drool), is the vintage look.  Perhaps it stems from my love of old musicals and classic actresses, but the charm and fashion of women like Bette Davis, Judy Garland, and other starlets of the day is something different than what exists in present day.  The Mrs. Jones’ Jacket from The Secret Store is one beautiful item that reminds me of the classic actresses of years ago.

What really sets this jacket off is the over all structure.  This piece has an exceptional shape.  Also, something I need to make note of is the texture.  The print is perfect and eye catching, and if you zoom in closer, the fabric looks real enough to touch.

The shoes, a new release from YS&YS, were another must have.  I fell in love with them as soon as I saw them.  Again, I felt they had a modern mixed with vintage flair, and the shape is super adorable with a slightly chunky sole.

To top this ensemble off, I am wearing texture change jewelry from Je Suis.  A few great accent pieces to tie the look together.
